SongShare
Managing Agile Collaboration
Context & Background
In SongShare, we set out to create a music-sharing app where users could exchange playlists and collaborate on curation. This project wasn’t purely UX, but it was about managing the process behind a digital product using agile frameworks.
My Role & Collaboration
As part of a three-person team, I supported project planning and sprint organization. I managed our Scrum board, tracked assignments, and facilitated stand-ups. I also contributed to early wireframes and the project charter.
Timeline
-
Weeks 1–2: Project charter and scoping
-
Weeks 3–5: Sprint cycles and iterative development
-
Week 6: Final product demo and lessons learned
Research Goals & Methodology
Our focus was less on testing and more on process management, but applying agile principles to organize tasks, monitor progress, and handle scope creep. We used an informal Scrum approach, combining weekly retrospectives and Kanban boards to track deliverables.
Analysis & Outcomes
The experience revealed challenges in balancing creativity with deadlines. Our biggest lesson was how easily scope creep can derail a small team. By refining our sprint goals and improving communication, we managed to keep development on track.
Impact
The project improved our internal collaboration and highlighted how agile frameworks can be flexible when used intentionally. It also deepened my appreciation for how project management and UX research intersect—structure enables creativity.
Reflection
SongShare helped me see the “why” behind UX processes. Clear organization doesn’t stifle innovation, but it supports it. That perspective has shaped how I plan research timelines and cross-functional collaboration today.
